SHANGHAI (AFN) - China laat er na de afwaardering van de grootste economie ter wereld geen gras over groeien; het land veroordeelt de VS voor zijn verslaving aan schulden en kortzichtigheid en pleit ervoor dat er een andere munt komt als wereldwijde standaard, in plaats van de dollar.
China deed zaterdag meteen van zich horen via staatspersbureau Xinhua. Ratingbureau Standard & Poor's verlaagde de status van de VS in de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag van AAA naar AA+, een status die de VS niet eerder heeft gehad.
Volgens de Chinezen wordt het hoog tijd de rol van de dollar als reservemunt internationaal aan de orde te stellen. ,,Een nieuwe, stabiele en veilige wereldwijde reservemunt kan ook een optie zijn om rampen veroorzaakt door één land te voorkomen.
